Guanacaste and the Nicoya Peninsula have some of the best weather and surf in all of Costa Rica. When you add in the stunning beaches and easy access through the Liberia International Airport, you have a winner. Called the Gold Coast, many assume the name refers to the value of the coastal real estate. Although that might be the case, it originally referred to the golden color of the countryside during the prolonged Guanacaste dry season.
